Neil Barlow is living in cloud cookoo land. their are. so many dangerous defects missing completely from the new system it’s a joke. Let’s be honest now, the only reason it has changed so much has less to do with European legislation and more to do with the lack of willing older more experienced engineers able to do MOT’s so the test and systems have been watered down to such an extent that a 14 year old could do them, and designed by graduates you haven’t done a days real work in their lives.

They are learning! Mainly that as a complete unit they couldn’t do a worse job. Even my apprentice non tester can’t believe how badly this has been implemented.

Very poorly instigated with typical civil service lack of information. List of approved equipment and pass spec for things like brake fluid contamination ? Another piece of equipment to calibrate ?

Jim Walker, The system was designed with the help from the MOT Council members who are mostly time served MOT testers with many years of experience between us and most carry out MOT testing on a day to day basis.

We have been onboard since the start of the project and have made valuable contributions as to how the system operates. The failure input system has been tested over and over again with surveys running along side the development that have come up on the screen once you have completed an MOT.
DVSA have kept us in the loop throughout all the stages of the development of the system and allowed us to comment and give feedback at every stage. They have taken this feedback on board and made adjustments to the system as it progressed so to say it was written by 14 year olds and graduates is inaccurate to say the least.
Nigel, where does it say you have to test the brake fluid?
