Hi I would suggest if this re occurs to try an alternative brand of brakes such as A-pec brake discs. As a garage repairer I would say that we use A-pec braking on a daily basis they offer a 2 year warranty on parts and labour. Worth a try for future.

Yet another case of manufacturers pulling the wool over customers eyes, and not telling the whole truth about running costs of new vehicles. Or is it they just don’t know or care !!

My guess is inappropriate intial specification. Drum rear brakes are ideal for small cars. As most buyers of new cars have little interest in technical stuff this will continue.

I purchased a 20 plate Yaris Hibryd in August this year it had 5000 miles on the clock However I did not check the discs when purchasing the car it was only when I was checking the tyre pressure two days ago that I noticed the rust and scoring on both rear wheels discs, I contacted the Dealer Burrows of Doncaster only to be told the same story that this is normal on Hybrid cars , If I am not satisfied with there explanation I can take my case to Toyota GB , After reading the post of the person from Essex I don’t hold much hope of a good response.

So take you un environmently friendly car and go down motorway
70 mph do few emergency stops see if it clears the rust off.

OR sounds daft, paint the disc face – then if you do an emergency stol
    Then repeat experience with paint

Tweet toyota uk – there a great tream
