    Yesterday’s announcement that the government scrapped its plans to extend the MOT exemption period for new cars has been welcomed by the industry. [See the full post at: Scrapped 4-1-1 MOT plans applauded as “common sense prevails”]

    Well that’s that – at least until the notion recycled in a year or so’s time.

    As an interesting aside – modern aircraft are built to very high standards but regardless are inspected to varying levels pre and post flight, and at regular intervals – people turn the key on cars without any thought whatsoever and are only forced to get them checked by law.

    Any money saved by extension to 4 years would be outweighed by increased repair bills. This isn’t just theoretical but demonstrable at any MOT station almost everyday.
