Technicians across the country have been touched by Mia’s story after it emerged it that she was told she would never be able to become a mechanic because of her gender.

GW reader, Steve said: “Good luck with your dreams, but be determined to turn them into reality.

“Go into it as a professional and you’ll come out as a professional.

“The professional training is key to your success.”

Commenting on the GW Facebook page, Nigel Pluck said: “Absolutely rubbish there is absolutely zero holding women back because everyone supports is either through morals or being destroyed if they don’t.

“[The] thing that annoys me is when I’m denied a place on a course because a certain amount of places are only for women so I end up losing out just cause I’m I guy.

“This stuff annoys me all we heard is so called gender discrimination yet it does not exist.

“Why make a deal out of one stupid comment some idiot made?”

Rosana Linda Sherwood said: “Wow! All these comments.

“I’ve been a mechanic for over 15 years and all I had from fellow mechanics was sexist and patronising behaviour.

“Hopefully, this will change.”

Replying to Rosana, Matt Seabrook said: “No place for it in 2018.”
