“In a move to self-drive and go green, the automotive industry is undergoing a massive transformation,” says Oly Richmond, CEO and founder of garage network Servicing Stop.

“Autonomous and electric cars are the future of driving, but could automobile meet aeroplane in a surprise partnership with the aerospace industry?”

The two fields will meet at a conference in May, explains Richmond, exploring “state of the art vehicle lightweighting, cyber security, software, managing the supply chain, unlocking manufacturing productivity and how Silicon Valley may just reshape both industries.

“With cars becoming lighter, faster and packed with self-driving technology and fuel efficiency software for airplanes gathering pace, the two sides have a lot to learn from each other.

“The International Civil Aviation Organisation’s agreement was released last year with the aim of diminishing CO2 emissions in flight while a global move is undergoing to replace fossil fuel with renewable energy on the road.

“Both industries will now work together at the AutoAero conference to develop advanced-technology products and manage the costs of high-volume production.

“Ford, American Axle, Eaton, Boeing and Moog Aircraft will all be joining the talks which are set to be followed by a tour of the automotive and aerospace facilities in the states.”

‘AutoAero industry’

“What a time to be alive,” Richmond continues.

“Autonomous and electric cars are both on the horizon with some models already zooming around Britain.

“There are now an estimated 90,000 plug-in vehicles on the road while there were just 3,500 in 2015.

“Times are moving incredibly fast all around us and we are just ready and waiting for this new and improved AutoAero industry to join us.

“Our garages are gearing up for the expansion of electric and as for self-driving, well, we offer repairs for a reason.”

The event will be hosted by Speed News at the Henry Hotel in the U.S. state of Michigan from May 2nd to May 4th 2017.

Servicing Stop is on a constant recruitment drive for more government-approved garages in its network.
