DENSO offers best practice in lambda sensor fitment to guide workshops through extreme weather

How to fit lambda sensors in six simple steps
Lambda sensors can be one of the most important parts of a car, helping to ensure optimal engine performance and clean emissions.

Extreme weather conditions around Christmas can bring nasty surprises for motorists with faulty or poor quality lambda sensors, highlighting the need for workshops to be prepared to fit OE quality replacements.

When extreme winter conditions draw in old or low-quality components may start failing, with the right expertise workshops can benefit from a windfall in sales by capitalising on these replacement opportunities and bolstering their customer service.

Whilst detecting a faulty Lambda Sensor is important it is equally important to select the right product, and fitting it correctly to ensure a happy, returning customer.

Before fitting it is important to prepare the relevant area, so ensure the contact surface for the gasket and thread is cleaned, the wiring loom has been checked, checked the counter connector for signs such as housing damage, dislocated pins and leakage.

The steps

  • Screw the sensor in by hand, making sure not to cross the thread.
  • Tighten to the torque specified.
  • Wire routing, if possible use the original fixation materials and positions.
  • Sometimes DENSO provides alternatives in the box.
  • If the wire is slightly too long, bind the cables as close to the connector as possible, and away from the exhaust and moving parts, without any folding.
  • Finally, connect and lock the connector, you should hear an audible click.

The OE quality of DENSO Lambda Sensors ensures each product offers guaranteed durability, cementing workshops’ reputation as a provider of quality and excellence, driving customer loyalty.
