Euro Car Parts to continue offering VAG Group EGRs following discontinuation
Euro Car Parts has said it will support repairers working on all VAG 1.6, two litre diesel vehicles manufactured after 2010 with a CAY engine.

Euro Car Parts has announced that it will continue to stock EGR valves and coolers for VAG Group 1.6 2l diesel vehicles, “long after they have been discontinued to the aftermarket”.

Original manufacturers of the parts recently announced plans to cease supplying the aftermarket, choosing instead, to focus distribution only at OE, or dealership level.

For independent repairers, replacements can only be sourced directly from the manufacturer, at a considerably higher cost than aftermarket alternatives.

Despite this move, Euro Car Parts has announced that it not only holds stock currently but is expecting further deliveries of these parts after agreeing a deal to continue supplying the independent aftermarket.

If the 1.6 or 2L EA189 engine vehicle has been into a VAG dealer for it’s NOx update and the EGR subsequently fails, the EGR is covered for free replacement under the VAG groups “Trust Building Measures” scheme.
This leaves a bit of a hole in the market for aftermarket workshops who’d found these valves to be a good earner due to their disasatrous reliability issues.
ECP may supply, but fitting could constitute fraudulent practice if the workshop owner knew the valve could be fitted for free by a VAG dealer?
