Skincare brand reports on its pick of Swarfega-related sporting headlines

Swarfega makes sporting headlines
Swarfega's original green gel hand cleaner has been used for some odd things in the past.

Swarfega may be better known to some as the famous hand cleaner, but the green gel has popped up in the news for a number of reasons over the past few years.

Ronaldo’s grooming

Reporting on a Portugal – Egypt match earlier this year, Who Ate All The Pies suggested that Cristiano Ronaldo had a very interesting grooming routine when it came to his hair.

They reported: ‘a couple of pinpoint deliveries onto the Swarfega-smeared bonce of Senhor Ronaldo providing the catalyst for the injury-time turnaround’ – use as hair gel is not a recommended use, according to Swarfega.

Running through Swarfega

Sounding like a sport in itself, the St Helens Star were critical of Saints player Ben Barba in a September match last year: ‘Barba looked like he was running through Swarfega when he tried to chase back to catch Bill Tupou’.

A slimy insult

Looking back a couple of years, previous Fifa president Sepp Blatter was under fire.

According to The Week, he was described as ‘slippier than an eel taking a bath in a tub of Swarfega’ by one disgruntled commenter.

Wrestling: Health and Safety

The Belfast Telegraph reported last year on the rise of wrestling, with the writer encountering some costume-related health and safety hazards along the way.

‘I ended up in traction – not from performing any stunts, but from trying to put on my lycra jumpsuit when the wheelbrace slipped in the Swarfega’ reporter Billy Weir writes.

Swarfega advise that it should always be used with caution – especially when lubricating lycra jumpsuits.
