A dopey driver caught swearing by a speed camera has received points on his licence.

Despite driving within the speed limit, the camera snapped the unsuspecting male with both hands off his wheel as he gestured both middle fingers towards the police van, an action he said was his way of saying “you haven’t caught me speeding now.”

Jason Dooley of West Midlands Police Camera Enforcement Unit commented: “We park up there because it’s a busy road which has had quite a few serious and fatal accidents.

“He was driving up the road, saw the camera van and took both hands of the wheel to put his middle fingers up.

“We sent him a letter of intended prosecution and he came in today with his wife.

“He was very apologetic to the officer in the back of the van and the camera operator.”

The man was handed three points on his licence for driving without due car or attention.
