KYB UK supports ‘Row to Raise’ endurance challenge
Keda Wood will take on the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge to raise awareness of the support available to those suffering physical or mental trauma.

KYB UK is to support parathlete, Kelda Wood, who is taking on the 3,000 mile challenge to raise hope in young people facing physical or mental trauma, and to raise awareness about relevant support available.

She also aims to raise over £50,000 for Climbing Out, the charity she set up after her own life changing injury.

Each day Kelda is on the Atlantic, she’ll be rowing for a different young person who’s been through some form of mental or physical trauma.

The Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge is the premier event in ocean rowing, with up to 30 teams participating from around the world.

It brings together teams from all walks of life united by the same objective: to take on the unique challenge of crossing an ocean in a rowing boat.

Teams battle with sleep deprivation, salt sores, and physical extremes inflicted by the race, rowing for 2 hours then sleeping for two hours, constantly, 24 hours a day, through waves up to 20ft high.

Kelda had a serious accident as a young woman which caused her to almost lose her leg.

She recovered and challenged herself to climb Kilimanjaro, then became a paracanoeist, before becoming the first recorded adaptive female to successfully summit Aconcagua, the highest peak in South America.

Kelda came back from Aconcagua passionate about spreading a message, to inspire and support people to have the confidence to try, because so often when we give things a go, we achieve so much more than we ever thought possible.

She decided to take on the Atlantic Challenge, in doing so she hopes to give others the confidence and self-belief to get out there and give things a go.
