Manufacturer releases guide to air filter quality

Upselling filters can increase revenue, say K&N

Manufacturer releases guide to air filter quality
K&N air filters.

The performance of a combustion engine is reliant on clean air-flow to the engine, according to K&N, the inventor of the reusable high-flow cotton air filter.

Better air flow can result in crisper throttle response and more torque throughout the engine RPM range.

To ensure optimum performance, K&N replacement air filters are made up of multiple layers of oiled cotton filter media that not only provide superior air flow but also excellent filtration to extend the lifespan of an engine.

Manufactured using two, four, or six layers of cotton, the filter medium absorbs dust and dirt particles instead of simply ‘blocking’ them.

This is a process known as ‘depth loading’.

K&N filters are manufactured to ensure that the air flow efficiency, capacity (filter life), pleat height, pleat count and weave count (density of cotton medium) work cohesively in the final product.

These filters are then factory-treated with specially formulated filter oil, before being released to the market for sale.

K&N range highlights
  • 33-2955: Replacement air filter for Ford Fiesta 1.4 (2008-2013)
  • 33-2865: Replacement air filter for Audi A3 2.0 (2008-2013)
  • 99-5000EU: Recharger kit aerosol oil.

K&N air filters last up to 50,000 miles between servicing, depending on driving conditions, says the manufacturer.

They are 100 per cent reusable and can be easily cleaned, re-oiled and revitalised to a ‘like new’ condition for the next 50,000 miles with the K&N recharger kit aerosol oil.

K&N filters are custom designed to fit specifically into any vehicle’s factory air box in as little as five minutes.

They allow garages to offer customers a brand with an opportunity to upsell over a standard paper filter and provide motor factors a chance to increase revenue from filter sales.

All K&N filters undergo air flow and filtration efficiency testing in an in-house filtration test facility.

The filters also allow customers peace of mind with the worry-free K&N million mile limited warranty.
