Demographic research from MyCarNeedsA.com, a price comparison site where service providers quote for MOT, servicing and repair work, has found that motorists searching for deals and booking servicing and repair work online, are predominately male, living in the north west and are aged between 25-34 years old.

The data also suggests that there has been a growth in women and over 65-year-olds using the site in the last 12 months.

Top five areas with the largest group of motorists booking work online:
  • North West: 17.4 per cent.
  • Scotland: 15.7 per cent.
  • South east: 12 per cent.
  • West Midlands: 9.7 per cent.
  • Yorkshire and Humberside: 8.6 per cent.

Scott Hamilton, managing director of MyCarNeedsA.com said: “We are certainly seeing a shift in site users and this gives us a good indication of which motorists are looking for deals online for work on their vehicles, via comparison sites like ours.

“We know that motorists want to save time and money and don’t want the hassle of negotiating the price for servicing and repair work directly with a garage, or workshop.

“What’s more, savvy motorists are very aware that they can get good deals online and we have seen a surge in visitors to our site, up by 76 per cent year on year.

“Demand from motorists is growing and we are able to give garages and workshops work that they wouldn’t otherwise have.”

MyCarNeedsA.com works with more than 4,000 garage and workshop partners nationwide.

Only authorised repairers provide quotes for work after a thorough vetting process and genuine parts are used on all customer vehicles.
