Independents hail the third annual Autoinform LIVE weekend a success

Schaeffler stars at technical and training weekend
The Schaeffler presentations proved to be popular.

Autoinform LIVE – organised by training specialists ADS and supported by the Original Equipment Suppliers Aftermarket Association (OESAA), which promotes the benefits of fitting original equipment (OE) parts – featured technical presentations by some of the automotive industry’s leading companies, including global technology giant Schaeffler (UK) Ltd.

Malcolm Short, technical services manager for Schaeffler Automotive Aftermarket in the UK, said: “We had around 200 delegates participate on our courses and we received many favourable comments.

“A lot of people said that this year’s event was the best yet and it was good to have so many people keen to learn about our products and how they can help them in their businesses.

“It is vital that independent garages get the right hands-on training and this year we have all worked hard to put on the right level of courses, not only for the new delegates, but also for those who have attended in previous years.”

This year’s event, which was held at the state-of-the-art GTG Academy in Wolverhampton, was split into three packages designed to streamline and improve the overall experience of delegates.

First-time visitors attended the ‘green’ band module, which included popular sessions from previous shows, while second-timers took part in the ‘amber’ band featuring some new and updated training modules.

For third-time delegates there was the ‘red’ band which provided a new programme of topics.

Schaeffler presentations at Autoinform LIVE
  • INA GearBOX: the complete transmission repair solution covering everything needed to carry out a professional transmission repair in just one box
  • E-Mobility, thermal management and the E-Arc Stabiliser: a detailed look at the vehicles that will be driving into workshops in the future and Schaeffler’s involvement in the future of mobility. This included the latest advances in water pump technology – the Thermal Management Module, as well as details of the Electronic-Arc stabilisation systems being increasingly fitted to modern cars.
  • Twin clutch technology including diagnostics: This covered how twin clutch systems operate and the benefits they offer to the vehicle manufacturer, driver/owner and independent workshops as a profit-making opportunity. It included information about diagnostics and trouble codes, plus a practical removal and installation demonstration of the latest FIAT Group LuK 2CT repair solution.
  • REPXPERT: Schaeffler’s online tool for professional garage mechanics needing free access to VM fitting information with details of everything they need to know about LuK clutches, INA belt systems and FAG wheel bearings.

The event attracted a lot of positive comments from delegates who praised the organisers and the content of the show, some taking to social media to register their approval.

Andrew Fowkes, of Tony Fowkes Automobiles, London, said: “Just to say thanks to all the team for the weekend.

“We honestly thought it was the best one yet. We were buzzing the whole way home.

“Our only regret is just doing the one day and not the whole weekend – we shall certainly do the whole weekend next year.”

Nigel Yardley, of Yardley’s Garage, added: “Thank you for a fantastic weekend, I want you to know how much the hard work of you and your team is appreciated.

“I particularly enjoyed the management courses, truly an inspiration. If anything can we have more of these, so I can include non-workshop staff next year.”

John Donnellan, of Donnellan Auto Services also posted: “Great weekend, excellent training.

“Thanks to everyone involved with this event.

“Will definitely be back next year.”
