The owner of a second-hand BMW X5 is considering taking legal action after suffering a number of issues with his 59-plate car which he bought for £21,000 through BMW’s Approved Used scheme last year.
After picking up the keys to his new car Valentin Capeneata said he found a number of problems including a faulty tailgate, out-of-date sat-nav and a vibrating steering wheel.
The problems repaired for free but Valentin wasn’t happy with the amount of issues his SUV had suffered.
In July, he got in touch with Marshall Bournemouth about handing the car back because he didn’t believe it was fit for purpose but was told that after four months it was now worth £14,259.
Speaking to CarBuyer, Valentin said: “I couldn’t believe they told me I’d lose over £7,000 for four months’ driving.
“In late July I found a lot of water in the passenger footwell.
“I want to reject it”
“The car just keeps having more and more problems and I want to reject it.”
Valentin took his case up with the Motor Ombudsman, which didn’t rule in his favour.
BMW UK told CarBuyer that the dealer’s verdict remains the same.
Valentin is now considering taking legal action.
