Problem job: Can you solve the issue with this Nissan Qashqai’s ABS?
Euro Academy’s technical helpline challenges you to solve an ABS problem on a Nissan Qashqai.

The latest GW reader challenge from Euro Academy’s technical helpline concerns the ABS lights on the dashboard of a Nissan Qashqai.

The customer was complaining of the “traction control” light on and the “traction control OFF” light on.

After completing a scan of the ABS system with a diagnostic tool, two fault codes were found; C1130, ABS control module – invalid data received from engine control module and C1132, ABS control module – invalid data received from engine control module.

The repairer started looking into issues with the ABS system and found all wheel speeds were being registered and there were no signs of corrosion in the ABS module which may lead to the lack of data.

The repairer called the technical helpline – do you know the solution to this problem job? Find the answer here on GW later this month.

Solution: Volkswagen Golf problematic wipers

The Euro Academy technical helpline recently had an enquiry regarding a Mk5 Volkswagen Golf where the windscreen wipers only worked while driving.

The motor and switch has been changed before the repairer contacted the Euro Academy helpline.

When contacting the helpline, the Master Technician consulted the OE diagram and realised that the bonnet open switch has a bearing on the operation of the wipers.

The switch stops the wipers working while the bonnet is open to avoid injury while working in the area but will turn on if the vehicle moves over 5mph.

The master technician explained how to test the switch circuit to determine if the switch was faulty.

These tests lead to finding there was a broken ground wire in the circuit.

This wire was repaired, and the wipers started working again.

If codes are reset and re appear when engine is run but vehicle not moved – fault is manifold pressure pipe and sensor possibly blocked.

Agree with Martin. The manifold pressure pipe and sensor, Also you have to remove the pipe to unblock it important and the sensor.
Should all be good after this.
