This is only happening because of the persistence of a grieving Mum. We totally support Frances’ stance. Undoubtedly old rubber is more brittle/less effective than newer. Let’s hope this tyre research looks at other areas too – yes, part worns but tread levels as well ie if our tyres were changed at 3mm we’d end the part worn market from Germany/Austria in one. But what distresses me most is that it’s taken 6 years to get here. Assuming the tyre/garage industry knows the risks motorists run here, how come it’s taken Frances to convince the government not the so called tyre pros?
