Well to be honest, I can’t see it ever happening in my time in the trade and I have been in it around 35 years. The lecturers used to talk about a trade license back in the 1980’s, and back then we had limited vehicles with electronic ignition systems. Now we have everything you could dream up arriving on the streets and in our garages. While garages (Some anyway) would welcome a regulated system, some garages are owed and run by people in our trade who would not know a combination spanner from a ratchet, and the very government you ask for the license system from believe that people don’t need to be trained technicians anyway, so you flogging a dead horse. However, I’d sign your petition as a qualified technician.
