Surely a garage should take the following precautions before agreeing to fit a customer-supplied part:-
1) Ask to see the invoice from the customer’s supplier
2) Physically examine the parts – do they correspond to the brand and part number on his/ her supplier’s invoice?
3) Is the brand one which you would be happy to fit if supplied by your local motor factor?
To compensate for your loss of profit on the parts, charge a higher labour rate. What is the big problem?
