Rates relief is for Retail, restaurants, pubs and hospitality. NOT for garages
Agree with other posts re this hasn’t been thought through. MOT’s will now be seasonal. MOT testing stations and MOT testers cannot work 6 months on and 6 months off. So it looks like DVSA is going to be in a spot of bother. MOT testing stations will close and MOT testers will find other jobs. If we lose 50% of stations and testers which is quite feasable, can the DVSA explain how 12 months of MOT tests can be carried out in 6 months with only half the MOT testing stations and half the MOT testers.
Is there any truth in the rumours floating around that this decision was made to protect the MP’s who have links to car manufacturing and main dealers, and not covid-19. Because the main dealers had to close their showrooms, it wasn’t feasable to keep the workshops open, and they got scared about losing their customers to the fast fits and independents. They made a lot of noise and people listened, AT OUR EXPENSE.
