Vehicles exempt from MOTs which are prestented for testing and fail to achieve a pass must no longer be driven on public roads, a DVSA notification ha [See the full post at: DVSA issues clarification on MOT exemptions]
This I would have thought was obvious. If you present your MOT and it fails then you no longer have a valid MOT. For clarification, it’s my understanding that if your expiry date has been extended and you present for an MOT now. Pass or Fail it’s now the current date that counts and any future extended date is null and void. Any cars presented before the government extend the expiry will get there current anniversary. i.e. 12 + upto 30 days
We are running at a 50% fail rate on vehicles presented that have an extension.
Some of the items are quite serious.
But i’m glad they have done this on the failure sheets, as i’m sick of explaining to morons that if it fails, it fails. That’s it!
So are you saying that it would be okay for vehicles to be driven on the roads with cords showing on their tyres and blowing exhausts etc ? The extension does NOT mean that your car can be driven on the roads in an unroadworthy state.
