The UK government “urgently” needs to address the lack of EV-trained technicians ahead of the planned sales boom in electrified cars, the IMI has said

Phooey its them that has screwed it up for everyone.

Electric cars still polluting 65kg litithum needed for 1 tesla battery

2 ton of soil dug for 1 cat converter!

As for electric cars it appears its change parts rather than replace.

Going to he home ‘mechanics’ getting zapped even the trash on tv ship them out

I have zero interest whatsoever in working on those ridiculously overpriced toy cars. I seriously doubt the 2030 deadline is realistic. As usual, the powers that be are completely out of touch with the average person in the street.

I have 25 years until retirement. I’ll ride the petrol/diesel wave until it fades out then do specialist work as I watch with amusement at the new technicians trying to figure out what a spark plug is.

Obviously alternatively powered vehicles are the future but rushing into it as we’re doing is silly and expensive.

    No need for luck Helen.

It is estimated that most cars on the road are 15 years old these days. Even if ICE based cars are banned in 10 years I’ll have at least 15 years after 2030 before I run out of cars to fix.

Industry experts doubt the EV sales pitch as well. They estimate EVs will take no more than 30% marketshare. Porsche, Toyota, Mercedes etc. don’t seem convinced either as they’re working on synthetic fuel and hydrogen based fuel technologies.

EVs are a minor curiosity for most. I seriously doubt the majority are considering buying one. They are too expensive and completely impractical.
