The DfT are being, intentionally or unintentionally, obstructive. The simplest solution is to accept EU type-approvals for a period (anywhere between two and five years, possibly open-ended). Then, as we exit the EU, monitor any new standards or changes to current ones to decide if any divergence is appropriate. In the meantime, investment in UK accreditation could be increased, partly to cope with domestic demand and, hopefully, to be competitive with other accreditation bodies world-wide; let’s not forget a large proportion of automotive regulation is international. The DfT need to look for solutions, not problems.

are you serious r craven. If we could build cars to compete in quality and price then why aren’t we. Car manufacturer needs to be a world wide proposition. Stopping cars coming in from Europe and building our own solely for the UK would give us a modern day Trabant

Hi in the event of a no deal Would not EU type approved vehicles require a UK type approval to be sold here being as awkward as they might possibly be ?

Brian Spratt hit the nail on the head, we have managed and been happy (unless someone can point out a case where the industry was up in arms) with the current EC type-approval.
