Two independent reviews are currently underway into Northern Ireland’s MOT system after “signs of cracking” were found in 48 of its 55 testing station

Shouldn’t that read “biennial” – assuming there intention is to only Mot vehicles once every two years and not “biannually” twice every year !

“I remind drivers to service their vehicles routinely”. Good luck with that one!
Have any of these people actually seen some of the stuff we fail cars on that they would permit to stay out there for another twelve months?

If you’ve read my posts before you will be aware that I have lobbied the GEA and the HSE in the UK to get the make and model number disclosed relating to these dangerous lifts.
It has taken time but at last we have got there, nothing to do with the GEA or the HSE, the latter saying it was a problem for the Northern Ireland HSE and not the UK’s (the mind boggles????????????)
My thanks goes to GarageWire who said all along they would get the details of the lift involved and they did!!
    What to do now?
Our aim has always been for the concern of the persons, working beneath these lifts all over the world, and to ensure their safety. With the make and model released any users of this lift can contact their own garage equipment suppliers or the original manufacturer MAHA for a safety check to be carried out, they will know the make and model you have and whether or not it needs a full inspection. Don’t wait for your Insurance companies inspection to render them safe to use, it could be to late? You may only see your Insurance Companies engineer once a year and with this particular issue that could be to late!!!
