Following the recent launch of its professional DPF cleaning service, GW Views takes an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour at Ivor Searle to find out how the brand is establishing itself as a one-stop-shop for core automotive components.
Ivor Searle is renowned for its remanufactured engines, which are built to the BS AU 257:2002 standard set by the British Standard Institution to define the different between reconditioned, refurbished or a rebuilt engine and a quality remanufactured unit.
Speaking to Ivor Searle’s commercial director, David Eszenyi told GW that all of its remanufactured engines are thoroughly tested in purpose-built test cells.
He said: “All new replacement parts used in the remanufacturing process are sourced for their reliability and durability.
“We test all engines prior to final inspection and dispatch.
“With over 400 units in stock and a highly knowledgeable, expert sales department, we are focused on delivering first class customer service, every time.”
In recent years, the remanufacturer has applied its extensive experience and commitment to quality into other core vehicle components including turbochargers, gearboxes and now also DPFs.
Professional DPF cleaning service
Using state-of-the-art “flash cleaning” technology, an environmentally-friendly water-based process delivers as-new levels of cleanliness by removing all soot and ash deposits, including PM10 particles, cerium oxide deposits and oil residues, from the DPF.
Analysis by Umicore, one of the world’s foremost automotive DPF and catalyst manufacturers, has confirmed that there are no remarkable differences between a DPF cleaned using the same technology employed by Ivor Searle and installing a brand new unit.
Ivor Searle’s fast turnaround professional DPF cleaning service offers independent workshops competitive advantage by offering a low -cost alternative to component replacement.
All Ivor Searle professionally cleaned DPFs are provided with a detailed inspection report and are covered by a no quibble 12-month unlimited mileage warranty.
Turbochargers
Every Ivor Searle turbocharger undergoes the same intensive remanufacturing process, which involves a complete strip down and thorough cleansing using pyrolytic technology.
The remanufacturing process involves a complete strip down and thorough cleansing using pyrolytic technology, after which all internal components are automatically replaced.
All external housings are meticulously examined and checked against OE specification and any non-conforming components are also replaced.
David said: “Our turbochargers undergo stringent quality checks and test procedures throughout the remanufacturing process to ensure maximum durability and service life.
“Prior to final assembly, the turbocharger’s rotating assembly is then balanced on the latest computerised VSR equipment at speeds of up to 250,000 RPM and oil flow rates are checked at the same time.”
Gearboxes
When it comes to gearboxes, Ivor Searle’s same intensive remanufacturing process is applied.
Transmissions are stripped down, thoroughly cleaned and inspected against OE specification.
Bearings, seals and gaskets are replaced and all other parts are checked against OE specifications with non-conforming items replaced.
David added: “All Ivor Searle engines, cylinder heads and gearboxes are covered by a transferable 12-month unlimited mileage parts and labour warranty.
