More than 500 exhibitors are set to attend for 2018, with 85 per cent of 2017 visitors intending to return to the exhibition, which will house a newly improved layout.
This year’s event, which takes place at the NEC in Birmingham on 5-7 June, features an improved offering for workshops with a dedicated “garage quarter” in hall 19, hosting tool and garage equipment suppliers.
Live technical demonstrations and training will be taking place in the ‘workshop training zone’ and the new ‘business services zone’ and ‘workshop social’ areas are also worth visiting.
Wednesday’s opening hours have been extended, with the ‘garage quarter’ open until 7.00pm.
Opening times
- Tuesday 5 June: 9.30am – 4.30pm
- Wednesday 6 June: 9.30am – 4.30pm, the ‘garage quarter’ is open until 7.00pm
- Thursday 7 June: 9:30am – 4.00pm
Visitors will also benefit from the event’s thriving seminar programme with issues such as GDPR and MOT changes set to dominate.
Simon Albert, event director of Automechanika Birmingham, said: “With changes affecting the running of garages due to come into place just weeks before the event, Automechanika Birmingham is perfectly positioned to provide much needed clarity on issues affecting the trade.
“After last year’s success with a turnout of around 12,000 visitors, we’ve no doubt that this year’s event will cement Automechanika Birmingham’s’ position as the UK’s most valuable meeting place for the automotive industry, uniting the very best of the UK aftermarket and vehicle production sector.”
Many of the exhibitors have announced special show deals, offers and competitions.
Visitors can benefit from an enhanced programme of live events featuring live technical demonstrations, free training and keynote speakers.
Vic Clarke of Autocentre Rushden has his say:
“It’s been a long time since we had a national show in the UK dedicated to the automotive trade and I was worried it wouldn’t cater for my business.
“The garage trade gets a bad press but we’re supremely technical and the majority will take help where we can get it.
“Automechanika Birmingham met this need in abundance with a mix of high quality speakers that spoke my language.
“To have a section of the show dedicated to my business is really encouraging and brings the garage trade together.
“Free seminars, training and a specialist demo hub means that the event can touch all areas of my business across just three days.
“It also means the show doesn’t appear quite so daunting for an independent garage and means we can mix with like-minded garages in the ‘garage social’ and share experiences and advice.”
