It’s easy to see why garages may be a little apprehensive about their workshop being filmed, especially given how much equipment is there and the value of it, but if the vehicle is on road test then the camera should be connected. There’s no real reason for turning it off on a road test.

The DVSA are heading in the right direction as making sure garages and tester are testing right can only be a good thing for car owners. However, producing a traffic light system based on ‘National Averages’ is a flawed system. If all testers across the UK are either too stringent, or not stringent enough, does that make it ok?

This looks like a policy implemented so the government doesn’t have to ban small waste oil burners and suffer the backlash, instead simply pricing most garages out knowing full well that £3200 for an application fee and an annual fee of £1300 is an expense most small businesses can’t afford.

I absolutely agree with this, good rates of pay for good work.
Independent garages always suffer when national chains make offerings like this, but I’m surprised its taken a national chain so long to offer free MOTs.
