The DVSA has this month published guidance for MOT testers on changes to the MOT inspection manual which will come into force on May 20, 2018.

The DVSA’s guide outlines new items that must be tested from May 20, 2018, defects that will no longer cause an MOT test fail and explains what’s changed in most sections of the MOT inspection manual – including new failures, new or changed inspection, and improved or changed information.

The publication is likely to be welcomed by testers across the country who have calling for a simple break down of the changes.

Commenting on the GW forum last month, GW reader Scott said: “We as MOT testers are not given a list of the new changes.

“[It] does not make sense why we are kept in the dark.

“A list of every previous fail/advise items should also be shown on the screen as we log a vehicle on to the system.”

The new MOT inspection, which features additional sections and a revised order, is available to view online.

To little to late. We are now being bombarded with too little information on a major upgrade of the mot test. So yet again the mot tester has to know it all or get points / banned.

    Thank you dvsa.
