MOT test stations must update or upgrade their diesel smoke meter by 20 May 2018, the DVSA has said in an authorised testing facility bulletin.
The DVSA has said it is aware that there may be constraints getting this software from manufacturers.
Test stations that can’t update or upgrade equipment by 20 May 2018 must tell the DVSA by 11 May 2018.
The agency will implement a workaround testing procedure if stations can demonstrate they have taken reasonable steps to have their equipment updated or upgraded.
From 20 May 2018, DVSA will test CI engine vehicles using the new emissions procedure and apply the lower default limit of 0.7m-1 for vehicles first used from 1 January 2014, as well ‘plate value’ limits for all vehicles where these are available.
