The Independent Automotive Aftermarket Federation (IAAF) hosted its annual conference on 5 December, 2024, bringing together industry leaders to discuss key challenges and opportunities.
The conference focused on the theme of “Everyday Leadership,” emphasising the importance of leadership at all levels within the aftermarket. Mark Field, IAAF’s Chief Executive, highlighted the need for innovation and collaboration to address industry challenges.
A key topic of discussion was the findings of an IAAF consumer survey, which revealed that 96% of drivers rely on the aftermarket for vehicle maintenance and repair. This underscores the critical role of independent workshops in the automotive industry.
The conference also explored the impact of technological advancements, such as artificial intelligence, on the aftermarket. James Poulter, Head of AI & Innovation at House 337, discussed the potential benefits and risks of AI, emphasising the importance of responsible implementation.
Other topics covered included the skills gap, the impact of electric vehicles, and the ongoing fight against counterfeit parts. The event concluded with a keynote speech by Nigel Owens, a renowned rugby referee, who shared insights on leadership and resilience.
