The Independent Garage Association (IGA) has launched its COVID-19 compliance certification scheme for garages wishing to demonstrate that their garage is safe.
The scheme, based on the government’s safe working guidelines to prevent coronavirus transmission, is offered to IGA members at no extra cost.
Certification is issued to garages that have passed an auditing process, under taken by the IGA.

An IGA spokesperson said: “If you need guidance on safe working practices to prevent coronavirus transmission at your business, and want to demonstrate to customers that your garage is a safe place to visit, our field team can pay you a visit to help you to achieve compliance in line with government advice.
“Once your audit has been completed, if you meet the guidelines you will receive a poster to reassure your customers that your business premises are a safe place to visit.”
IGA members can book a visit by calling 0845 305 4230 or emailing [email protected].
Last week the Health and Safety Executive warned that action would be taken against any business not managing the COVID-19 risk.
The UK’s automotive aftermarket sector released COVID-19 guidance in May, covering every aspect of workshop operations.
