IGA urges testers to complete annual MOT training “in plenty of time”

The Independent Garage Association (IGA) is this week reminding MOT testers to complete their mandatory 2020/21 annual training in plenty of time.

This year’s assessment pass mark has been increased to 80 per cent.

Topics for group B (cars) include the requirements for issuing various documents, the disciplinary points system, which vehicle categories fall under group B, and the MOT inspection manual for cars and passenger vehicles.

The 2020/21 topics for group A (motorcycles) include the requirements for issuing various documents, the disciplinary points system, which vehicle categories fall under group A and the MOT inspection manual for motorcycles and sidecars.

An IGA spokesperson said: “As the experts in this field who work closely with the DVSA, we can support your testers with thorough training to help them ensure they have access to a method of training designed to suit their needs, including options to carry out annual training from home.

“Furloughed employees can also legally undertake training, as long as it does not generate revenue for your business in the duration of their furlough.”
