With Christmas just around the corner, a study by The Motor Ombudsman sheds light on how UK drivers are preparing for the festive getaway.
The survey highlights both excitement and anxieties surrounding the traditional Christmas road trip.
The most popular departure time for drivers is two days before Christmas Day (24%). However, concerns about traffic congestion (31%) and bad weather conditions (30%) are major worries for many.
While petrol remains the dominant fuel choice (56%), the survey also reflects a growing trend towards hybrid (14%) and electric vehicles (8%).
Interestingly, car accessories (23%) top the list for car-related Christmas gifts, followed by personalised number plates (17%) and event tickets (15%). The Motor Ombudsman advises drivers to prioritise vehicle checks before embarking on their journeys, ensuring their safety and that of others on the road.
