Autologic introduces IMI certified Level 3 HEV training course

Autologic introduces IMI certified Level 3 HEV training course
Autologic's newest course ensures technicians have the appropriate qualifications to work on HEV’s safely.

Following on a webinar on hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) myths, Autologic has now introduced a Level 3 hybrid/electric vehicle Repair course.

An Autologic spokesperson said: “”hile the Level 2 course is a good entry point for technicians who may be maintaining these vehicles but are not seeing a requirement to diagnose and repair the high voltage systems, the Level 3 course will give the technician the ability to make the vehicle safe to work on and also replace high voltage components, which now covers components such as air conditioning compressors and heating system components.”

This course is being delivered in collaboration with The RMI and covers essential subjects to ensure safe HEV repair.

Course contents:

  • How to work safely on hybrid and related vehicle systems.
  • The correct methods for shutting down and isolating high voltage systems and replacing high voltage component.
  • The layout and construction of hybrid and electric drive powertrain systems, and the identification of key components.
  • The principles of high voltage battery construction, management and monitoring systems and diagnosing using live data and a range of diagnostic equipment.

Upon completion of the course, delegates will be provided with the IMI certified qualification.

The Autologic spokesperson added: “Training is invaluable for technicians to keep up to date with new technologies and techniques, whilst helping technicians brush up on skills which may have been forgotten.

“With the IMI’s campaign to introduce licensing for technicians to carry out HEV repairs, ensuring that the appropriate courses are made readily available is paramount.

“Autologic fully endorse the IMI’s campaign and support this by ensuring that all customers working on HEVs are qualified.

“This is achieved through a registration process requiring the technician to provide evidence that they are qualified to an IMI level 2 standard and are able to carry out general repairs and maintenance, or level 3 enabling them to carry out repairs to the actual high voltage (HV) system.”

Autologic only provide diagnostic support to those working on HEVs who are fully qualified to a level 2 and 3 standard.

The company uses several venues across the country to deliver its training courses, including the RMI Academy of Automotive Skills.

New courses will continue to be introduced in line with demand, including the latest Land Rover diesel diagnostics and BMW diesel technology courses.
