Stoneacre Motor Group is actively addressing the automotive industry’s skills shortage by participating in the Toyota Talent Powered by Autotech Academy internship programme.
This initiative provides paid internships to recent automotive graduates, equipping them with valuable on-the-job experience and supporting their transition into full-time employment within the Toyota network.
Stoneacre has successfully integrated ten Autotech Academy interns into its workforce, with notable success stories emerging from its Newcastle site.
Cameron Bell, the first intern at the Newcastle site, successfully completed his internship and has since been hired as a full-time technician.
The company has implemented a “buddy system,” pairing new interns with experienced technicians to facilitate knowledge transfer and accelerate their on-the-job learning.
This approach has resulted in significant improvements in workshop efficiency, with service times for routine maintenance tasks being reduced to just 45 minutes.
Stoneacre recognises the importance of investing in young talent and believes that this internship programme is crucial for ensuring the long-term success and sustainability of its business.
By providing a structured learning environment and valuable on-the-job experience, the programme is successfully addressing the industry’s skills shortage and preparing the next generation of skilled automotive technicians.
