Banner Batteries posts positive financial performance

Six per cent increase in sales revenue despite global changes

Banner Batteries posts positive financial performance

European battery and battery accessories manufacturer, Banner Batteries has posted positive financial performance figures for its 2021/22 financial year (1 April 2021 to 31 March 2022).

Despite the entire automotive industry being subject to profound changes globally, Banner has witnessed a six per cent increase in sales revenue, standing at EUR 286 million, with the sales of starter batteries totalling 4.2 million.

Banner’s commercial CEO, Andreas Bawart said: “Probably the most decisive factor in Banner’s ongoing positive development was the strong demand for our products in the North American and Asian markets.”

With double-digit growth on the Iberian Peninsula and in the Far East, during 2021/22, Banner continued to underline its export strength.

Also performing positively was the UK aftermarket operation, as did Portugal, where a new sales structure led to a doubling of Banner battery sales.

Andreas added: “The current disruptions caused by the shortage of semiconductors and wiring harnesses, as well as rising energy and raw material costs, continues to put pressure on the original equipment market sector, however with this representing just under 30% of Banner’s automotive business unit sales, the remainder is covered by the aftermarket, which is performing way ahead of forecasts in most of our export markets.”

Commenting from a purely UK perspective, Country Manager, Lee Quinney said: “I can only echo the sentiments of Andreas, as the UK aftermarket operation has enjoyed its most successful year to date. And whilst demand from the automotive sector has been particularly buoyant, sales in the CV, leisure and bike sectors have also exceeded forecasts.

“This can largely be attributed to not only the quality of Banner’s product offering, but the strength of the brand at O/E level that continues to go from strength-to-strength, despite the difficulties many manufacturers continue to face.”
