Bosch has called on workshops to remind their customers to have their air filter regularly changed according to the vehicle manufacturer’s instructions.
The advice, published earlier this week in an email newsletter, also includes a comparison of Bosch air filters over ‘cheaper alternatives’.
Air filters protect the motor from particles of dirt in the entrained air, abrasive wear and assures the correct supply of air for air/fuel mixture preparation.
Bosch say clogged air filters can reduced air intake, leading to decreased engine output and increased pollutant emission.
Dirty filters can also result in increased fuel consumption, premature oil contamination and even problems starting the engine.
