Castrol celebrated the efforts and commitment of UK mechanics and workshops at the 2021 Rallye Monte-Carlo, displaying on the competing M-Sport Ford World Rally Championship car the name of every individual and business nominated as part of its recent ‘National Mechanics’ Month’.
‘National Mechanics’ Month’ was launched by Castrol to help raise awareness of mechanics and independent vehicle workshops that have kept local communities moving during the pandemic.
Castrol invited motorists across the country to nominate their favourite local mechanic or workshop, generating over 2,000 submissions from the UK, Germany, Poland and Spain.
Castrol is soon to launch webpages that will enable the nominated individual or business to find their own name on the M-Sport Ford World Rally Championship car, which was brought home in eighth place by young Brits, Gus Greensmith and Elliott Edmondson.
Paul Miller, marketing manager at Castrol Europe said: “We have heard so many inspiring stories about the efforts made by mechanics across the country; this was just one way in which we are saying ‘thank you’ for their work.
“It’s brilliant that such a large number of customers have been motivated to praise mechanics who have gone the extra mile during this difficult time.
“Collaborating with the M-Sport Ford World Rally Championship team means we were able to give these unsung heroes some money-can’t-buy recognition.”
Castrol has received many heart-warming stories from UK motorists who wanted to applaud local mechanics for their outstanding customer service.
Andy Robertson from ARV Vehicle Services was nominated for his incredible work ethic, one entry comments: “Andy is a hard-working and honest mechanic.
“He works for himself as a mobile unit and is genuinely like an emergency service ready to help those in need.
“He offers discounts to key workers and always tries to make your appointment fit in with you. I wouldn’t trust my car with anyone else.”
The team at Kelsall Service Station were also recognised for going the extra mile.
Its entry said: “They are a pillar of the community, with local residents and those further afield relying on them for all their motoring needs.
“Servicing, support, call-outs, late nights or early mornings; the team all work hard to ensure the customer comes first.
“They keep their local community and businesses moving during this period of uncertainty.
“They have many happy returning customers, who trust them fully.
“I couldn’t recommend this family-run garage business any higher.”
