Castrol is collaborating with Lunar Outpost to support their Lunar Voyage 1 (LV1) mission, the first commercial rover mission to the Moon. Castrol will be the lead Mission Control collaborator for the mission.
Mission Control will serve as the primary hub for planning, decision-making, and control during the mission. Operators will monitor the MAPP rover’s autonomous functions as it traverses the lunar surface, collecting data and prospecting information using its sensors.
Castrol has a history in the space industry, with over sixty years of experience, including involvement in the Apollo missions, the Space Shuttle programme, and the International Space Station. Their space-grade lubricants are designed to perform in extreme vacuum environments.
Sandeep Sangwan, Chief Marketing Officer at Castrol, highlighted the company’s long-standing involvement in the space sector and expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration with Lunar Outpost.
Justin Cyrus, CEO of Lunar Outpost, stated that the collaboration with Castrol reflects a shared vision for lunar missions and a commitment to advancing space exploration. He acknowledged Castrol’s expertise and history with NASA.
