Draper and EXCELR8 inspire future mechanics with educational tour

Draper Tools and EXCELR8 Motorsport teamed up to visit educational facilities and inspire aspiring mechanics and engineers. The tour aimed to address the skills shortage in the automotive sector and showcase career opportunities within the industry.

The series of pop-up events included visits to Shrewsbury Colleges Group, Chesterfield College, Barnsley College, and the University of BTCC driver Nick Halstead’s race car was on display at each location, allowing students to get up close and learn about the role of race technicians and engineers.

Draper Tools provided interactive activities, such as the “Find the 10mm Socket” game, and showcased their range of automotive tools and equipment. Students also had the chance to win prizes and enter a giveaway for an ultimate mechanics tool kit.

Andrew Lee, Director of Employer Engagement at Shrewsbury Colleges Group, praised the event for inspiring students and encouraging them to consider careers in motorsport. Fran Weeks, PR & Partnerships Manager for Draper Tools, emphasised the importance of supporting the next generation of automotive professionals.
