Draper Tools launches smart battery charger and maintainer range

Draper Tools has launched a brand new range of smart chargers and battery maintainers in response to the impact UK lockdowns are having on batteries.

The new range includes four different models to analyse and recondition batteries on motorbikes, vans and caravans.

A Draper Tools spokesperson said: “UK lockdowns have seen millions of consumers reducing and even completely stopping driving and this has led to an increase in flat battery breakdowns.

“The situation is made worse with winter’s cold temperatures.”

The Draper 6V/12V smart charger and battery maintainer range is available in 2A, 4A, 6A and 10A options and will work with a range of 6V and 12V vehicle batteries.

The smart chargers can be connected to a lead-acid or lithium battery for a long duration without the risk of overcharging and can even be left overnight.

The Draper range of smart chargers and battery maintainers can all be used in temperatures as low as -20°C.

What sets this range apart from standard battery chargers is a special ten-step process that can analyse and repair a vehicle’s battery.

The chargers can check the status of a battery and ensure it’s kept at 95-100 per cent, with the voltage continually monitored.

The new Draper chargers can even be used on deeply discharged batteries.

The 4A, 6A and 10A models have a desulphation function which allows the reconditioning of deeply discharged batteries.

Thanks to the ten-step process, deeply discharged batteries can be restored by repeated charging with small current pulses to rejuvenate battery capacity.
