Easy2Recruit welcomes the government’s proposed Youth Guarantee but emphasises the need for industry collaboration for its success.
The Youth Guarantee aims to support 18-21 year olds in education or employment. While Easy2Recruit founder Ambi Singh sees this as a positive step towards combating the industry’s skills shortage, he stresses the importance of industry involvement.
“The next step needs to be a conversation between government and industry to establish how to put in place systems to kick-start recruitment and education to fill existing gaps,” said Ambi, “and to work towards future-proofing the industry for the 2030s and beyond.”
The announcement comes amidst a significant skills shortage in the automotive sector. The latest IMI report highlights 20,000 unfilled vacancies, emphasising the urgent need for new talent.
Easy2Recruit helps bridge this gap by recruiting technicians from overseas. However, a sustainable solution requires a combined effort from the government and the industry.
The Youth Guarantee, along with industry collaboration, can offer a promising path towards addressing the skills shortage and securing a future workforce for the automotive aftermarket.
