Ecobat Battery is providing support to the Forces Veterans Afloat (FVA) charity by supplying batteries for its vessels. The charity, which assists homeless ex-service personnel, relies on batteries for both starting outboard engines and providing habitation power.
FVA, established in December 2024, originated from a 2021 Facebook post proposing the restoration of boats for homeless veterans. The initiative quickly garnered support, leading to the charity acquiring nine vessels.
Ecobat Battery’s contribution includes a Numax XV31MF starting battery and three Lucas LSLC125-12 habitation batteries for FVA’s latest vessel, Susie Splash. This 26ft Creighton cabin cruiser, launched in 1969 and powered by a 15hp Honda engine, was donated to the charity.
Susie Splash is currently moored at Sawley, awaiting inspection before being made available as accommodation for a homeless veteran.
Ecobat Battery’s Mark Allsopp stated that the company is pleased to support the charity, providing essential power for veterans to rebuild their lives.
