LKQ Euro Car Parts is advising MOT testers to complete their 2024/25 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) training before the 31 March deadline. This follows a DVSA report in February indicating that over 28,000 testers had yet to complete their annual assessment.
Failure to meet the deadline will result in suspension, requiring an in-person demonstration of testing competence to a DVSA representative, which can take weeks to reverse.
New regulations, implemented in March, aim to combat “ghost MOTs,” which constitute nearly 80% of fraudulent MOTs. These measures require technicians to photograph the vehicle in the testing bay after entering its registration or VIN.
LKQ Euro Car Parts collaborates with the IMI and DVSA to offer approved MOT CPD training through the LKQ Academy. They recommend booking training by March 27th to ensure completion before the deadline.
Training options include online assessment only, from £29 + VAT, and online training and assessment, from £54 + VAT. All CPD courses include free IMI affiliate membership, valued at £47.
