LKQ Europe has pledged its support to the European Commission’s Mobility Transition Pathway by committing to train 24,000 technicians in hybrid and electric vehicle maintenance by 2028.
This initiative aims to equip the automotive aftermarket with the necessary skills to support the transition to a more sustainable and electrified mobility landscape.
LKQ Academy, the company’s training division, will deliver a four-level training programme aligned with European Standard EN 50110-1, covering theoretical and practical aspects of hybrid and electric vehicle maintenance and diagnostics.
This commitment aligns with LKQ Europe’s broader sustainability goals, including achieving net-zero emissions across its global operations by 2050.
Andy Hamilton, President and Executive Managing Director of LKQ Europe, emphasised the importance of this initiative in supporting the future of the automotive aftermarket and ensuring a sustainable and competitive mobility ecosystem.
Kevan Wooden, CEO of LKQ UK and Ireland, highlighted the importance of supporting independent workshops in adapting to the evolving automotive landscape and providing high-quality, sustainable repair services to motorists.
