LKQ UK & Ireland has donated over £64,000 to 139 community causes across the UK in 2024, utilising its 280-strong LKQ Euro Car Parts branch network. The donations, made through the Community Branch Fund scheme launched in 2023, support a range of local projects and charities.
The scheme enables branches to allocate funds to causes significant to their colleagues and communities. Nearly half of the donations supported local sports clubs and initiatives, ranging from funding a kickboxing team’s trip to New York to purchasing training kits for a youth football team.
Branches in the South East region contributed the most, donating over £12,700 to 24 causes. These donations supported a local hospice with specialist equipment, community sports clubs, and the Childhood Tumour Trust, which provides summer camps for young people affected by Neurofibromatosis.
In Yorkshire, over £7,800 was donated, with highlights including LKQ Euro Car Parts in Halifax supporting their local food bank with essential items and hot meals.
The West Midlands, LKQ Car Parts’ home region, saw donations exceeding £7,500. The Tamworth branch, for example, donated to Simon’s Heroes, a charity improving the lives of children with life-limiting illnesses.
Kevan Wooden, CEO of LKQ UK & Ireland, stated that the Community Branch Fund allows the company to support causes important to its employees and their communities. He highlighted the scheme’s aim to assist various community groups, charities, and sports teams.
In addition to the branch fund, LKQ UK & Ireland completed its second annual Summer of FUNdraising in 2024, with 23 teams raising money for charities Ben, Pieta, and support for Ukraine.
