MOT testing centres are welcoming the opportunity of external support when it comes to appointing an Authorised Examiner Consultant (AEC), according to automotive consultancy, Fourmative.

A Fourmative spokesperson said: “Test stations have been welcoming of the support to have the opportunity of a qualified specialist overlook their vehicle testing station (VTS) and provide the critical support function now required of a modern MOT facility.

“As your appointed AEC we work remotely to check the performance of your VTS.”

For a fixed monthly fee, Fourmative offers test stations its independent consultancy service to help garages maintain their MOT testing license.

Opinion: A black hole is set to follow autumn’s increased MOT demand

The firm reviews MOT training records, test performance and test logs.

The spokesperson added: “By looking closely at set KPI’s, we are your early warning system.

“You will receive a monthly report to help concentrate you in the areas where your time and effort are best employed.”

The DVSA permitted the appointment of external consultants to undertake the role of an AEC in June 2019.
