The owner of a Bedfordshire MOT centre has praised the authorised examiner consultant (AEC) support it receives from Fourmative after a recent DVSA visit confirmed all MOT processes, standards and calibrations were in excellent order.
DVSA requirements for self-checks are becoming more prevalent and many independent garages are now turning to Fourmative for a professional audit to benchmark operations against a predefined set of standards.
More than 100 areas are checked during the audit before a report is published with detailed findings, photographs and timed action plans for follow up and measurement.
Raza Karim, owner of Clutch Master MOT Centre in Bedfordshire appointed Fourmative for AEC support in 2020.
He said: “We weren’t really aware of everything that we needed to be doing, it was only when Fourmative went through each process that we realised the level of detail required of us.
“They went through everything including how tests are managed, ensuring all the paperwork is in order and that QCs are checked properly.
“They also measure our data against the national average to see what needs to be improved upon.
“Fourmative offers a helping hand and they’re really easy to deal with so I’d definitely recommend them.
“Just the other week, we had a visit from the DVSA and the guy went through the folder and was really impressed. He couldn’t fault a thing.
“It’s reassuring to know that our paperwork is in good order and that we won’t be getting in trouble for anything which can easily be overlooked.”
Fourmative MOT auditors visit garage premises for an initial one-day consultation and conducts an audit to benchmark MOT stations against a predefined set of standards.
More than 100 areas are checked and a report is created with detailed findings, photographs and timed action plans for follow up and measurement.
A Fourmative spokesperson said: “The DVSA has changed the way that an MOT station is regulated, with the requirement to complete self-checks becoming more prevalent.
“Gone are the days when the local DVSA employee would visit every shop to check on process, standards and calibration.
“Today the modern MOT station must adhere to strict standards and failures could result in the loss of licence to conduct MOT’s and cost the business dearly.”
