Garage Data Systems set to get Making Tax Digital approval

Garage Data Systems has announced that its GDS management system software for independent garages and motor factors has been successfully reviewed by HMRC, in respect of the Making Tax Digital legislation, and is set to be approved imminently.

The Making Tax Digital legislation, which comes into effect in April, will require VAT Returns to be submitted to HMRC by approved software.

VAT qualifying UK businesses will no longer be able to submit their VAT returns online as a manual process by keying in the figures by hand.

The GDS system has always had the capability to generate a VAT return document, and this has now been extended to allow electronic submission of the VAT return using secure protocols over the Internet.

GDS customers who have a current support and maintenance agreement will be eligible for this software update, free of charge, which will be delivered via our usual software update channels.

Customers who are have expired support and maintenance agreements will be able to renew with us and will then be eligible to get this program update.

Garage Data Systems will be inviting suitable business customers to register their interest to join the pilot programme before the Making Tax Digital legislation becomes mandatory in April 2019.
