Garage Services Online compares a poor website to a lazy employee

Why your website is more important than you think

It’s estimated that 75 per cent of people will make a judgement about a business’ credibility based on its website.

And that website only has 2.6 seconds to make an impression in which to base that upon.

As an independent garage, your website is arguably one of your most valuable business assets.

It’s your number one salesperson, it answers everyone’s questions and it creates your first impression.

It’s easily the hardest working member of staff you have. It never complains or rings in sick and works 24 hours a day, every day.

Or at least it should be. But do you even know if your garage’s website is actually working at all?

Does it bring in sales? Answer customer’s questions at 10pm? Make your garage look professional at all times?

If not, the answer is no, it’s not working. You’ve just identified the laziest employee in your business.

So what would you do with a mechanic who wasn’t pulling their weight? Someone who, despite their initial promises, sat in the background, not working, not talking to anyone and certainly not earning your garage any money.

They’d probably be on their way out and you’d be left feeling cross and wondering why you wasted your time and money.

So why, just because a website can’t actually speak or be seen around the workshop, do so many garage owners put up with something that simply doesn’t work?

Probably because it’s easier to leave it until another day and, for now, the garage is doing okay.

But what about all those opportunities and enquiries being missed?

The profitable work you’d like that’s going across town to a main dealer or your competitor – those businesses that don’t have any lazy employees?

Is it time to consider what your current website is actually doing? Is it even working? If you can’t make time, don’t worry.

Your potential customers, 75 per cent of them to be exact, will do it for you.
