Gates introduces modular branched hose references for passenger cars

Gates has introduced over 500 modular branched hose references for passenger cars.

Until now, Gates say reliable replacement hoses like this often had to be sourced from dealer networks.

A Gates spokesperson said: “Designed with built-in components such as quick connects, valves and sensors, the focus on modular branched hoses has increased because the OE references on significant numbers of cars already in circulation are failing.

“Some of the earlier plastic components have become brittle over time, while vibration in use and manipulation during general maintenance eventually causes these components to crack or break.

“Garages with an eye for a profit opportunity will appreciate that although such hose assemblies have become increasingly more sophisticated in design, their installation remains relatively straightforward.”

Gates say all of the new references are already in demand.

Models from BMW/Mini, Fiat, Ford, Land Rover, Mercedes Benz and Renault are just a few of the vehicle manufacturers covered by this first phase.

The chance to source a wide range of replacements that match OE specifications from a supplier with such a strong OE pedigree will be seen as good workshop practice.

Gates uses OE-exact connectors to ensure leak-free installation.

Plans to add more than 1500 different automotive hoses references in different categories over the next few months are well advanced.

Gates said it’s a strategy made possible following acquisition of hose manufacturer Rapro, early in 2018.
